[Los Altos, CA] – [1/9/25] The Byga team is delighted to announce that Leo Garcia, former US Club Soccer Executive, has joined the team as Vice President of Business Development.
Leo’s roots in soccer run deep. He joined US Club Soccer in its inaugural year (2002) as an intern in Events and Marketing. He quickly ascended through the ranks of the organization, thriving in various roles including Director of Marketing, VP of Competitions and Identification (id2), General Manager of the National Premier Leagues (NPL) and most recently, VP of General Managers. In his positions, he had constant contact with leaders in the youth soccer world, from league executives, to club directors, administrators, and technology vendors.
From Leo Garcia: “Over the past 20+ years, I focused on providing clubs with competitive platforms and opportunities to develop players to their full potential. At Byga, I look forward to continued club support, finding ways to efficiently manage talent identification programs and refining a national standard for club technology usage and compatibility.”
From Byga CEO Afshin Shafie: “By supporting various PDP programs throughout the western region over the last few years, Byga has learned a ton about the talent ID process and we’re now ready to more directly impact player development by growing in the talent identification space. I’m excited to have Leo to help us expand these efforts with leagues and clubs nationally in addition to helping clubs develop through improved management and operations.”
